Arts After Hours

Proud - More to do and see in Downtown Lynn!

We got a lot of things to be proud of this month. I guess top of the list for us is our new board. Last month we welcomed Corey Jackson (President), Tricia Jackson (Treasurer), Lauren Carr (VP), Michael Crounse (Secretary), Jane Kelley,  Jill Parker, Kevin Sampson, and Brendan Crighton to our Board of Directors.  If I told you what they’ve already been able to accomplish you wouldn’t believe me. One has saved us thousands on printing costs, one has planned an entire Gay Pride event for June 16th in Downtown Lynn as an AAH fundraiser, one is working hard on our Meet Ball set for June 23rd, one is working out the details for a Lazy Dog fundraiser on June 3rd and others are working incredibly hard to keep our finances in order.

Having this amazing source of support and dedication so early in the game will allow us to focus on the art and bringing more theatre and nights of entertainment to Downtown Lynn.

This Saturday we celebrate an actress, Shonna McEachern and a partnership with Centerboard as we continue our cabaret series in Downtown Lynn. Something I have enjoyed so far at AAH is working with actors we know and love over multiple productions. It’s fun for us and also the audience to see people they’ve seen before in different roles. This Saturday, Shonna comes back in a night all her own as she sings everything from Queen to The Beatles to showtunes. It’s going to be a great night out in Downtown Lynn.  I hope you will join us.

Great Press For Downtown Lynn and Arts After Hours

Today the Boston Globe North published a piece on Managing Director, Corey Jackson, and the quest we all share to revitalize our Downtown Lynn. The outpouring of support on Facebook and Twitter from all facets of life has been overwhelming. We’ve got some connections made to other communities who have gone through exactly the same thing in PIttsfield, Pawtucket, Lowell, and Stoneham. Towns decimated by loss of industry, now becoming active and vibrant downtowns with theatres at their center. That’s what it’s all about folks. Can we just jump ahead 10 years into our new massive theatre complex in Downtown Lynn? No, we can’t. But it’s the journey that makes the prize all that much more satisfying. Thanks for being a part of it and for your continued support of this dream to bring life, community, and purpose to our beautiful Downtown Lynn

Meet our Snoopy

ALEX MANGOS (Snoopy) is insanely excited to be making his AAH debut as well as performing in an amazing show!!!  He grew up in Lynn and now lives in Topsfield, and is always keeping himself busy.  He has been playing piano since he was 5 years old, and got into theater in high school when he played teen angel in Grease.   Other past credits include Brad in Rocky Horror, Louis in Awesome 80s Prom, The Scarecrow in Wizard of Oz, George in Drowsy Chaperone, and Aladdin in Aladdin Jr.  He has also music directed a few shows, including Annie and Once on This Island.  He would like to thank his family and friends (especially Sean) for all the support, and the production team for giving him the chance to play one of his dream roles with such an amazing cast :)
